Windshield Deicer does not Operate

DESCRIPTION

When the windshield deicer switch turns is turned ON, a windshield deicer activation request signal is sent via the LIN communication line to the air conditioning amplifier. Then the air conditioning amplifier operates the windshield deicer.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1.

PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (DEICER RELAY)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Active Test / Deicer Relay (Front)

(e) Check that the deicer operation.

CHECK AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM (LIN COMMUNICATION)

(a) Operate the integration control and panel to change the set temperature and check that the temperature at the outlets changes.

OK:

The outlet temperature changes in accordance with the operation of the control panel

OK

3.

REPLACE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL

(a) Temporarily replace the integration control and panel with a new or normally functioning one HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING PANEL: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia) .

CHECK INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL (OPERATION)

(a) Check that the malfunction disappears.

OK:

Malfunction disappears.

OK

5.

INSPECT FUSE (DEICER)


(a) Remove the DEICER fuse from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

(c) Reinstall the DEICER fuse.

6.

INSPECT DEICER RELAY



(a) Remove the DEICER relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

3 - 5

When battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2

10 kΩ or higher

When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2

Below 1 Ω

(c) Reinstall the DEICER relay.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER AND BATTERY)



(a) Remove the deicer relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Disconnect the H24 air conditioning amplifier connector.

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(e) Reconnect the air conditioning amplifier connector.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY - WINDSHIELD DEICER WIRE)



(a) Remove the deicer relay from the engine room relay block.

(b) Disconnect the A23 windshield deicer wire connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

A25-1 (B) - Deicer relay terminal 3

Deicer relay terminal 3 - Body ground

(d) Reconnect the A25 windshield deicer wire connector.

(e) Reinstall the deicer relay.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD DEICER WIRE - BODY GROUND)



(a) Disconnect the A25 windshield deicer wire connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

A25-2 (E) - Body ground

(c) Reconnect the windshield deicer wire connector.

OK

10.

CHECK WINDSHIELD DEICER WIRE (SYSTEM VOLTAGE)



(a) Disconnect the A25 windshield deicer wire connector.

(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:
